About Maxine Fischer & Somatic Sex Coaching
Hi there,
I’m Maxine
I’m so glad you’re here. Here’s a bit about my education and what’s inspired me to support people in this incredible work.
I’m passionate about empowering people to feel at home in their bodies, ignited by a huge healing journey of my own. I take a holistic approach to health and happiness, with my roots in Somatic Sex Education, somatic trauma healing and transformational coaching.
My Education…
I’m a certified Somatic Sex Educator and Sexological Bodyworker, with the last 10+ years spent working with individuals and couples. I’ve trained with many incredible coaches, therapists and bodyworkers from around the world and have a deep passion for lifelong learning.
I’m a graduated ontological life coach with an ICF certified program, and have completed my Advanced year of study with Somatic Experiencing International.
My Story…
My passion for my work comes from my own history of battling disembodiment. In my early 20’s I struggled with chronic dysregulation. This led to a period of using whatever I could to cope with an inescapable sense of overwhelm.
Coming out of chronic patterns of dissociation was a long haul. In much of the early days I was in chronic freeze, isolated, and felt that I has to pull myself up by my bootstraps to heal myself.
My journey became exponentially easier when I started calling in support and stopped trying to do it all on my own. Despite my struggles I had many gifts to tap into.
Having transformative experiences in the realm of embodied sexuality, plant medicine and somatic work gave me a touchstone for releasing my body’s patterns of intergenerational trauma and orienting back to life’s goodness. As I continued to heal my nervous system and tap back into my intrinsic sense of sense of joy and magic, it became crystal clear that working with others on the healing path was a natural way forward.
One of my gifts is a truly multifaceted, holistic approach to my session work. I have a commitment to lifelong learning and am endlessly passionate about what it takes for people to thrive. I consider my journey a testament to personal discovery, unwavering resilience and healing through the body’s wisdom.
I identify as neurodivergent, queer and have lived experience with multiple relationship styles, including ethical non-monogamy. I find myself supporting many creative and diverse people in my practice.
The Space
For my in-person sessions that can include everything from working with somatic therapy tools, to somatic sex education, to sexological bodywork. My home studio is an oasis on the edge of Thetis lake – 5 minutes from Millstream Village, in the traditional unceded territories of the the Lekwungen speaking people.
It’s equipped with a deluxe memory foam massage table, consultation area, bathroom and many other loving details to create a welcoming atmosphere.
It’s also a 5 minute walk to the lake if you feel called to spend some time in nature before or after our session.
Accessibility: There are a couple of stairs from the driveway to the the main house. I usually keep my bodywork space on the 2nd floor but can make ajustments with prior notice.
